358/365: The Night Before Christmas

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.   ~ John 3:16

A star hovered over the little town of Bethlehem as Mary slipped into labor.  Joseph, in love with his wife, protected her and attended to her.  In only a few hours, the world would be different. It would be better. It would have hope.

God's great gift to you and me is more than we could ever deserve.  He gave us hope. It's up to us to receive the gift, unwrap it, and embrace it.

Pause for a moment. Reflect on what you know to be pure love. Then remember that God loves you even more than that. May we receive His gift every single day and celebrate it's impact on the way we live and give.

GO DEEPER: Re-read John 3:16 - replace "World" and "whoever" with your name. Then read again but place the name of your cosest loved ones. Finally, read again and replace the names or peoples you strongly dislike into the verse.

Pray about your reaction.
