so glad you mentioned a god that we in the modern world do not like to recognize as a false god we should not pursue. The false god of food. We worship it and allow it to control us, steal our health, and act as if we have no responsibility to deny our self this worldly lust. thank you for bringing it to mind.

Hallelujah! What an important piece of text to look at. GOD has lend us through so may things that have enslaved us in life. And yet I'll be the first to admit, I tend to run back to those things when faced to wait for HIS leading again. May we all come to terms with our own gods and forsake the fleeting pleasure they offer. In Jesus name

Heavenly Father, Good and Gracious, Merciful and Patient, Loving us, Your sons of sin. thank You for the Sacrifices Jesus made to atonement for my sins, and the sins of everyone everywhere. Father, if we call ourselves Your son's, instruct us to be the most generous men on the earth. freely and joyfully giving and giving, of our talents, skill, time, resources, encouragement. through the Precious Name and Sacrifices Jesus made. Amen.

DAY 302: Dangerous Games

When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son. But the more they were called, the more they went away from me. They sacrificed to the Baals and they burned incense to images. It was I who taught Ephraim to walk, taking them by the arms; but they did not realize it was I who healed them. I led them with cords of human kindness, with ties of love.  ~ Hosea 11:1-4

The world flashes its shiny objects and we chase the world - as if it can offer hope, rescue our souls, or fill our empty spaces like a god.  Men, The world is a cheap, impotent, toy god.

What does your toy god look like?  Money, time, pride, greed, lust, power, food?  God knows what you crave and why you run toward it - after all, He made you!

Put away the toys and turn to the one and only God who knows you and loves you.  Confess, repent, and find rest.
