"Then you call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the Lord. The god who answers by fire—he is God.” At noon Elijah began to taunt them. “Shout louder!” he said. “Surely he is a god! Perhaps he is deep in thought, or busy, or traveling. Maybe he is sleeping and must be awakened.” ~ 1 Kings 18: 24, 27
Have you ever traded your faith in God for faith in some thing or someone? Perhaps it was money, career, health, pride, lust, greed, etc.?
This ancient story of Elijah is a perfect reminder for when we sacrfice our life for the world versus living a life sacrificed for God and His people.
If you find yourself waiting on God to show up to light your fire, but He seems to be a no show... maybe it's worth asking if your "sacrifice" was prepared for HIM or for some other lame no-show, lowercase "g" god.
God always shows up. Do not doubt that. Pray for your eyes to be opened to see Him in your present situation.
