Awesome verse and lesson to live by. This was a huge issue for me a when I started my walk and still needs a lot of prayer from me today. My pastor would always try to instill into me that if you don't put a log in the fire it won't burn. Good words to live with, especially in today's world. walking away shows the world that you are the light of the world, not the fuel. When you take a moment and ask God to lead you in the situation, people notice that. Be a man, defend yourself when you need to, but wear the armour of God and fight his battles, not yours. Let people see your christian walk, and whether you know it or not, you've already have gotten revenge because from that point on, God's got it handled in ways you may or may not see.

DAY 241: When Revenge Wants To Take Control

Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else.  1 Thessalonians 5: 15

One thing is certain... revenge or "payback" doesn't end the conflict... it only escalates the trouble. It makes things worse, not better.

Instead of searching for revenge, why not attempt to be the bigger man. Stand tall and refuse to stoop to childish behavior. The man with poise and restraint is the one in control.  God can help you with that.

It can be difficult keeping a lid on your urge to "make them pay for what they did."  First, confess your anger and off-load it quickly.  The longer it cooks under the surface, the more likely you will be to act.  Second, pray for the strength to forgive - this is where life and freedom live.
