I hear you, Kman! And yes, they were correct - worship begins in your heart. Leading worship is helping others to the same place. Sometimes worship is music, sometimes it's a message, sometimes a prayer, or offering, or serving. No matter the form it takes - worship is a transformational relationship with God which can and should happen daily - anywhere. A "worship service or worship music" is one way, but not the only way to be in the presence of God. Collective worship is powerful and can heal a hurting soul. It should never be neglected... just as it should never be the only time one "worships" God. Thanks for jumping in and offering your story! Blessed to have you here!

I'm new to this app, and I love it, but would like to comment on this page. a lot of ministries use worship for many purposes. One of many is to invite God into HIS house, and to get the congregation to a point of surrender. Not to argue with the point that was said, but when I was at the beginning of my walk, (I was was straddling the fence so to speak), but our wo r ship leader wanted me on the praise team for my trumpeting skills sort of speak. she sat with our pastor, then they sat with me. Our pastor said that he would never just place anyone up there because the worship team was god appointed through prayer. long story short, they prayed about it and he told me that God let him know that was where I was to be to develop a more personal relationship with him. I inow, sounds corny. My point being, worship can and is used for many reasons. many walk through those doors sick, searching and hungry for answers. love this app.

Amen! Worship is an ongoing intentional act. How easy it can be to get caught up in our own worries and forget that worship helps us overcome our fears.

DAY 232: Why Bother With Worship?

Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. ~ Romans 12:1

Unfortunately many church leaders have hijacked the word "worship" and redefined it as a music session or a song set built to get a congregation "in the right mood".

God's intention of worship has nothing to do with a church service.  His design of worship is built on a transforming relationship with Him - based on grace, gratitude, and humility.

Worship should look like giving yourself as an offering to God.  Worship is what gives your life power.  Worship builds a deeper relationship with God.

This is why you should worship - individually and collectively.  It moves you from where you are into a transformational relationship with God.

And yes... the church gathering is a great place to worship collectively. Don't blow it off.
