Totally agree. Yet in order to rewire you replace. Replace those thoughts!

Amen, Isaac. God will rewire those connections as we give them to Him. Doing it without God is a quick fix that will short circuit. Witnessed that too many times to count. Praying with everyone who battles.

Greg correct sometimes we do need to be rewired. I believe because of my own experience that the only one who can reword our brains is God. David was a high man of God but still stumbled because of lust. After this he wrote this scripture which is my prayer when I struggle "create in me a pure heart, O God and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit to sustain me." Lord I pray that I and all the others reading this are granted a willing spirit that will sustain through a world of temptation.

True, Magee. However, there is a wiring that occurs with issues of addiction. Many addicts don't want to act, but the wiring takes over and wins their decision. To re-wire, we have to jump in the gap and short circuit that gratification response (whether it's sex, drugs, food, attention). With God's help, we can win those 3 second battles. With a plan we secure the lifelong victory.

The battle is in your mind and you must tame the beast within. We cant just turn from vile things, we must turn to Him. Phil 4.9

Loving God, we come to You today to thank You for the power to rush from vile things when we encounter them. There is so much filth and temptations in the world, thankfully, You are always there to give us that escape. Let us use the escape, and encourage brothers to use it when they are tempted. Let us stay strong in our faith, and resist the world as it attempts to draw us into it. Praying in the name of Jesus. Amen.

DAY 213: Purity Requires The Right Attitude

I will not look with approval on anything that is vile.  I hate what faithless people do; I will have no part in it.  ~ Psalm 101:3

When something "vile" hits our field of vision, we have just a few seconds to make a decision to take it in or look away.  When that decision is delayed, the stage is set for a loss.

Winning the battle of purity requires a gameplan full of decsions set in stone before you reach that split second moment.  Like the Psalmist writes, we must decide to hate what faithless people do and have nothing to do with it.  Do you hate it?

If you are struggling with purity, make your decisions right now, before the next encounter. A plan to react quickly.  Identify those faithless people and make a pact with yourself to not allow them to control your next decision.

Don't struggle with purity? Support a buddy who is struggling. Walk with him and keep one another accountable.
