Almighty God, Lord of All, we come to You today to thank You for the opportunity to work. By work we can take care of and provide for our families, but give us the wisdom to keep the right priorities in our lives. Work provides a means to live out our days, but our relationship with You gives us eternal life with Jesus. In all we do, let us stay focused on You and give glory to You. Praying in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Lord thank you for giving us the drive and ability to work. Please help us to remember that we work to live not live to work. I am a very driven and hardworking person, and honestly most i push way too hard. It is very difficult to not get caught up in the "rat race" and "keeping up with the Jones's". Lord help us to remember you in all things and find balance so that we don't lose ourselves, the ones we love and most importantly you.

God, thank you for the ability and mind, body and spirit to till the soil for my flock on a daily basis and God thank you for also the ability to ' balance' life. I struggle to maintain and not allow work to take over and become dominant, but through staying in your word and staying close to your desire, I am finding daily balance. It is in Your name I pray dear Lord, Amen.

Dear God, We are thankful that we have the opportunity to work. Please be with those in search of work. Guide them so that they have an opportunity to provide. Please help us realize there is more to this life than work. May we find You as You guide our hands today. May us take an opportunity to reach out to someone else today as we work and show them Your love. Help us to be a witness to our co-workers. Lead us to be an example. Help us to put You first in our lives, above our careers and everything else. May we glorify You in our work today and the rest of our days. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

DAY 212: Work - Life Balance

And I saw that all toil and all achievement spring from one person’s envy of another. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.  Fools fold their hands and ruin themselves. Better one handful with tranquillity than two handfuls with toil and chasing after the wind.  ~ Ecclesiastes 4: 4-6

God gave men the curse of working the soil by the sweat of our brow. It's our duty to work for our food, our well-being, and our livlihood.

However, work was never designed to be our god - rather - it was given to remind us of God's dominion.  Our work was given to us to use as a blessing for ourselves and others.

Today, as you put your hands to the wheel (in whatever your endeavor), remember to pursue balance.  Working to keep up with "the neighbors" is a fast way to make idols out of your job or career.

How is your work/life balance?
