201/365: Winning The Battle of Impurity

How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.  ~ Psalm 119:9-11

Do you struggle to keep your mind from straying into impurity?  Tempted to  point fingers and blame "them" for revealing too much sexuality?  Perhaps you blame someone else for causing your pattern of self-destruction?

Evil has a way of pushing these bad ideas and schemes into the forefront to distract us from the core issue of impure living.

The struggle with purity has less to do with "quitting that behavior", the physical drive, the over-sexed culture, or the endorphine addiction of self-gratification. The issue of purity isn't what you merely need to "stop" doing, but how you stage your heart for daily living.

A formula for winning the purity battle:

The psalm tells us how to get pure. To live according to God's word. To seek God with the same intensity you use to seek impurity. Ask God directly to keep your focus on the right thing. Spend your idle time thinking about how to honor God. Make God's instruction a part of your vocabulary. Change out your response from dwelling on the thoughts of impurity to prayer for anyone in your field of vision.

The key is how you stage your heart for those difficult moments ahead.
