Almighty God, we come to the throne of grace today to thank You for a mouth to use to praise You, and lift others up. It is so easy to let the world come out of our mouths. Empower us to only speak praises to You, and for anything we say to bring glory to You. Let us always remember who we belong to, and the sacrifice You made for us. Let the words we speak reflect our love for You. Praying in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Heavenly Father, it is only thru faith in Jesus Christ and the filling of the Holy Spirit that can hold my tounge back from cutting people deeply. apart from Christ i am corrupt, hurtful, sinful, and selfish. I am all to eager to boast about myself to build me up and tear others down. Lord Jesus, You endured torture, disfigurement, and death to restore me, may i show some of the same Grace to someone today. I lay my failures of the past to be restored with You in the future at Your feet. Amen.

DAY 188: Focus On Encouragement

Set a guard over my mouth, Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips. ~ Psalm 141: 3

Such a simple prayer for a big time problem, right?  Your mouth can be a weapon that can cut deep, sting your victims, and wage wars.  It can also be the honey that serves hope, encourages others, and signals leadership.  You get to decide what comes from your lips - venom or honey.

The stronger your heart and relationship with God, the easier to manage your tongue. It takes work.  Be an encourager. Pray for restraint to hold back the venom. Pray for courage to spread the honey.
