Hey, James! Like with all things... going to the extremes can get us off track. Certainly if you build yourself up so high you that God takes second place - there is a problem. But keeping a steady dose of affirmations flowing and staying focused on who God built you to be is rocket fuel!

Heavenly Father, we come to You today to thank You for Your non ending Love, Forgiveness, and Grace. Father, we all fall short of Your glory, but You never fail to forgive us our sins. When we fall, give us the wisdom and strength to give it to You and forget about it. Many times we dwell on our shortcoming, when we know You have already separated us from them as far as the East is from the West. Jesus died on the cross so His blood could wash away our sins. Now let us let them go to You. Praying in the name of the sacrificial lamb, Jesus Christ. Amen.

I have found that the easiest way to cripple the enemy is to not give it power over my thoughts. Works 100% of the time.

Funny how God times things to cross our paths when we most need them. That's how this message strikes me today. I pray that God helps me (and all of us) be more alert to recognize signals (like this one) that he puts in front of us each and every day.

Wow... I believe God was speaking to me with this devotion

DAY 172: What Are You Saying To Yourself?

Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts. ~ Proverbs 4:23

How do you talk to yourself?  Do you find that you criticize yourself too much?  Is there a particular sin causing you to keep downing yourself?

God is telling us that if we want to change the way we live, we must change the way we think - and how we speak to ourselves comes from those thoughts.

Stop dwelling on the weaknesses. Quit beating yourself up with shame over a mistake you've made. God forgives, so you should forgive yourself and move on.

Stop with the negative self-talk.  Instead, focus on who God wants you to be and how He wants you to live.  Pray about it, talk about it, and live like a man with a second chance - and speak life into your own life.
